U-Report 24x7 is a platform dedicated solely for use in supporting emergency response in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe. It is a free SMS-based tool for community participation designed to address issue that the community care about. It is available and accessible day and night to affected people both as a data collection tool and a resource for life saving information. U-Report 24x7 collects real-time data including reports and complaints from affected citizens. SMSs are free to the users and responses are always shared back. Issues polled include among others health, education, water, sanitation and hygiene, youth unemployment, HIV/AIDS; social welfare sectors. Data received can be disaggregated by age, gender, States, LGAs, Wards and settlements in real time. Aside from polling the tool can also be used to increase awareness when there is a disease outbreak or to provide information around humanitarian services and how or where to access them. Registration is voluntary with SMS free to the users across all networks. U-Report relies on volunteer community members serving as U-Reporters on a free entry, free exit basis to provide information on issues in their communities U-report allows citizens to speak-out on what is happening in their communities, provides a forum to amplify their voices through local and national media, sends alerts to key stakeholders about the issues their constituents are facing, and feeds back useful information to the U-reporters, so they are empowered to work for change and improvements in their localities themselves.
