Over 1,000 U-Reporters were elated to receive messages announcing that they had been shortlisted as active U-Reporters.

The idea to reward active U-Reporters during the year 2020, was beyond the desire to gain appreciation messages from the vast audience as U-Report24x7 turned, 2 years. It was an astounding time to appreciate active U-Reporters across the three intervention states- Adamawa, Borno and Yobe for their support.
The objectives obviously aligned with the goal to acknowledge and motivate active users of the platform. Also encourage and sustain the referral process by active users towards drawing participation from citizens who are yet to sign up on the platform.
The awardees were carefully selected based on analytics of top engagements. Usually, U-Reporters respond to weekly polls, ask questions or reports issues they have noticed around them. Such activities make up the parameters for determining engagements.
U-Report24x7 leveraged on her existing partners across the states. In most cases, local government focal persons volunteered to deliver the rewards which were U-Report branded T-shirts to the respective local governments and communities where applicable.
It is also important to recall that during the run-on to the rewards, U-Reporters were provided an update on the number of users on the platform at the time. The figure since then had grown from 229,000 to 232,000 members enrolled on U-Report24x7.
Zara Mustapha, one of the reward recipients shared her experience with U-Report24x7 as an encouraging platform. She stated:
Upon being enrolled, I thought it just another SMS platform that spams people with junk messages. I later realized how important the timely information shared on the platform would benefit me, my household and community.
U-Report24x7 is a powerful real-time data collection and communication platform that provides data to improve program interventions from various humanitarian partners. It also provides live-saving information to people. In Nigeria, it has been relevant in understanding the plight of populations affected by insurgency in view to providing useful humanitarian and government responses to them.
