COVID – 19 Social Media Contest U-Report 24x7

The number of people affected by Coronavirus in Nigeria on 24th April 2020 is now 981 people in 26 states and the FCT, with 12 cases in Borno and 1 case in Adamawa.  There are a lot of misinformation surrounding the Coronavirus Pandemic in our communities. In light of this miscommunication we are calling you to make a one minute video showing the facts for the common rumours about COVID-19 in your community and encourage them to seek accurate information by sending Coronavirus to 24453.


Be creative!  We’re looking for videos that will share the facts in unique and creative ways.  It can be anything from songs, spoken word, drama or comedy.

Facts

Coronavirus cannot survive in hot weather.

Coronavirus can spread anywhere and has already infected many people in other African countries with hot weather.

Coronavirus is not in Nigeria, it’s just a way for people to embezzle money.

The number of people affected by Coronavirus in Nigeria on 24th April 2020 is now 981 people in 26 states and the FCT, with 12 cases in Borno and 1 case in Adamawa. At least 31 persons have died.

The virus is a punishment from God, It cannot affect holy people like me.

The best way to keep yourself safe is by:
Washing your hands with soap and water regularly, staying at home and staying away from other people and large gathering

 

The virus is a rich person disease, it is only for people who travel abroad and travel by air

Coronavirus has spread to more than 14 states in Nigeria and it can affect anyone if they come in contact with someone infected.

Cure/Vaccine against coronavirus has been discovered.

There is no vaccine yet that can prevent coronavirus or medicine to treat it. If you have any symptoms such as fever, cough, difficulty to breath

Coronavirus affects only older people.

Everyone can contract the virus. But elders and people with pre-existing conditions (such as diabetes, hypertension and heart disease) are more vulnerable.

Only people with symptoms (fever, cough, sneezing, etc) can transmit the virus

People with NO symptoms, including children can transmit the virus. For this reason, it is important to reduce contacts and wash your hands frequently.

 

Judging
The winning video would be selected based on creativity, innovation and how well people engage with the video. The finalists’ videos will be displayed on the main U-Report 24x7 website and invited to receive a price as well as become a U-Report Ambassador.

The winning video will be used in stopping the spread of coronavirus, made available for sharing across all our social media handles.

Criteria

§  Videos must be respectful in the words and images it contains and how people are represented.
We welcome videos in Hausa, Kanuri and Fulfulde; however, for videos not in English, please provide an English language transcript of the script or subtitles.

§  All videos must be 1 minute (60 seconds) in length.

§  Participants below 25 years of age are encouraged to apply.

§  Submissions can be either by an individual or a group.

§  Each individual or group is limited to one submission.

§  All videos must be free of copyright materials, i.e. video footage or music used without credit to the creator.  This means you cannot take clips from the internet or television and use these images in your video.
